NEW RESEARCH ARTICLES PUBLISHED ABOUT IN MEMORY OF ME - MARCH 2020

The researcher Marie-Cordié Levy, Doctorate in Photography History has just published in her new book titled “Ballades photographiques à la frontière du reel”  three texts of research concerning the link between the sculptures In Memory of Me and the recent history of selfportraiting in the United States of America. She has also produced an analysis concerning the place of tattoos in our contemporary cultures regarding the digital application developed for interacting with the sculptures around the theme of nature and the permanent link existing between the human being in his or her environment. Then last but not least the book also include an article speaking about the relation, defended by Stéphane Simon, between the selfie act and the social and political notion of Democracy.

The French national channel France2 has selected the sculptures In Memory of Me considering that this work of art does incarnate and represents the “Amazing future of Beauty”. This is the title of a fascinating documentary of 52mn with interviews of experts anthropologists, sociologists, beauty historians etc. It demonstrates the great interaction happening for any kind of visitors facing the sculptures who share joyful moments. Anybody can identify, project or recognize oneself into the statuaries.

UNESCO’s Digital Art Biennale

The work of art In Memory of Me selected to be part of the international UNESCO’s digital art biennale “Les Bains Numériques” from 14 till 17 june 2018 in Enghien-les-Bains
 
Human Future is the theme of the 10th edition of the UNESCO’S digital art biennale inviting 14 of the most innovative and creative cities around the world in terms of digital creation. In Memory of Me questioning the role, the place and the force of the human image in our contemporary societies has been chosen to be exhibited on the occasion of this major international event.
 
Using 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies for its sculpture part, the work of art In Memory of Me will introduce for the first time to the public, after 4 years of work and research, an interactive augmented reality application for smartphones an tablets that will be the essential key to discover an original graphic work of art that will engage a dialogue with the statuary and will make use of it to develop in relation with a massive and universal phenomenon still growing, sign of human identity since thousand years old : the tattoo practice.

The journalist Sylvie Adigard dedicates a TV show to the work of art In Memory of Me on french national chanel France 2 explaining the 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies used by the artist Stéphane Simon to realize his human size sculptures establishing a parallel with the traditional methods used by the famous sculptor Auguste Rodin during the 19th Century.
